I had expectations this would be a "decent" place to stay to conduct a few college visits with my son around the area. This included PSU, which we understood this property to be operated by. The website goes to great lengths to display wonderful photos of the place. On our arrival, the lobby is decent, but once you hit the rooms, it goes downhill from there. The rooms have limited windows and airflow which results in stale (or worse) smells. Due to the limited windows in ours, it was dark and felt uncomfortable. Furnishings are older with a lot of gold/brass. Website pictures show bright well lit rooms, I'd bet this all thanks to a crafty use of HDR by a well trained real estate photographer. The bathroom was in rough shape with peeling wallpaper, stains on the mirrors, mold and mildew and damaged ceiling paint from moisture. The sink bathroom handle came off in my wife's hand. She reinstalled it. The hotel information indicated it had a pool, but it wasn't open. It's Portland and it wasn't really warm, but nonetheless we expected it to be open. They charge for parking and need to indicate what the charge is on their website ($13, at the time of this review). Despite paying for parking, we got a ticket issued by PSU. The desk agent input the plate wrong. They were working on correcting it, but parking was closed on the weekend to rectify. Breakfast was nothing special, but they at least had it. They may tear the hotel down, and that would be my recommendation.
