So after 6 hours of driving (2 hours in terrible traffic) I get to the most expensive hotel we had booked in our trip and expect to relax in the pool and have a nice cold beer.
I get to the counter and the gentleman looks at his piece of paper (not computer) and tells me they are overbooked and he needs to send me to his sister hotel. I garner all my Spanish skills to explain to him that I have booked this hotel, I have got a confirmation from this hotel and that I was going to stay at this hotel. He argues a bit and bit and then starts typing on his computer. After almost 30 minutes of him not communicating anything to me, he just shows up with the VERY nice manager who apologizes and tells me we are getting a room. Great ! Hotel has redeemed itself... Nope.
We get set up in the room and enjoy a very decent meal at the hotel restaurant. go up to the room, relax and go to sleep. This is where it all goes to heck,,, They have put us (a family with a 2 year old) in the room right over the bar. So first night gets quite loud but everything calms down around 10:00 pm. So we think no big deal. The following night was INSANELY loud; music blasting, people screaming until at least 12:30 am. I took videos just to prove how insane it was.Our kid kept getting woken up every half hour.
TL;DR:
1) We got a good price on a room, hotel tried sending us elsewhere.
2) They put a family with a 2 yr old in the room right over their bar with blasting music until well after midnight.
