Really lovely hotel in a really nice area. Views were amazing. Staff were really freindly and the food was lovely. Pool definitely needs updating but they obviously have this underway as there is a sign up acknowledging it. It's still a good pool though.

A satisfactory place to stay when visiting Northumberland. Hotel was quite dark inside and felt claustrophobic.
Bar meal portion size was extremely large, enough for two.
No hand rails in bathroom so beware when climbing in the bath and shower.
A tv control guide would be helpful, also how to work the coffee machine…..I stuck to using the kettle!!
Fantastic stay! Stayed with the family of 4 in a double room, very spacious and clean overall. Great location, lovely breakfast. The restaurants are very tasty and staff are friendly and professional. Would love to stay again! only downside was the building work but it didn't disrupt our day at all.
We booked 5 nights here to celebrate our 15th Wedding anniversary and whilst hotel was lovely and restaurant/bar excellent was disappointed that hotel only gave us a card for our anniversary. Given that we had spent well over £1k whilst there it would have been nice to have been offered a bottle of Prosecco or a couple of glasses for free at least. We go away every year for our anniversary all other hotels we have stayed at have given us complimentary Prosecco and or chocolates, a couple of hotels even decorated our room and put up balloons. So very disappointed with what this hotel did for our anniversary. That said Darcy in the bar was exceptional and gave us excellent service and deserves a pay rise/bonus.
The staff were extremely welcoming, but clearly had not the adequate training both in the bar area (didn't know what a Viognier was even though on the wine menu, inability to open a bottle of wine with a cork. I was asked, having orexered a bottle of wine with a cork, would you like it opening? I had to send my evening main back as it was completely cold, as was the breakfast the following morning. We will NEVER return nor recommend.
Enjoyed our stay here whilst visiting Stanhope.
Room and public bedroom corridor areas were overly-warm however, which can’t be good for “eco friendliness”. Staff were polite, friendly and welcoming.
We ate in the dog-friendly bar one night, which was pretty busy with a few loud and lairy customers. Our second night dining experience in the upstairs bistro restaurant was superb! Really enjoyed the quality and service upstairs.
We made us of the spa/pool area which was really quite tired and in need of some TLC, with abandoned swimsuits left on the changing room floor, locker doors hanging off, and gutters blocked and overflowing.
Stayed at the Derwent Manor 3-7 Aug 2024. Room and food were all satisfactory. However our stay was overshadowed by worrying health & safety (H&S) issues. My elderly aunt had the lift doors abruptly close in on her, pinning her arms between them. There seemed to be a fault with the sensors & she suffered a deep laceration to her arm. The first aider at the hotel attended quickly to clean & dress the wound & filled up the H&S accident form. Upon returning home shortly afterwards the wound began throbbing & one of my aunt’s fingers became stiff. She went to her local A&E where medical (honey type) dressings were applied was given a tetanus injection. She was advised the wound will take a long time to heal. District nurses are currently visiting her at home to re-dress as necessary. I wrote to the hotel to update them of this on 15 Aug & requested assurance the lift will be fully examined by maintenance staff. To date they have failed to reply WHICH WE FIND VERY DISAPPOINTING.
If you are booking this hotel be aware the lift (there is only one in the main building for guest use) is a hazard especially to any frail elderly persons and probably children also. I would not use it if I had to visit the hotel again but am able-bodied so can take the stairs. Others may have no choice. Given this is a popular wedding venue the hotel has a high turnover of guests & I would hope they so something positive to urgently make the lift safe.
Bathroom was lovely bright modern and clean, just surprised there was no handrail/safety grip fitted as standard to ensure safety getting into and out of bath/shower. I do not have mobility problems but it is easy for anyone to over balance or slip climbing in and out of a bath particularly if soap etc makes bath slippery.
Everything was great, the only issue we had was there was a wedding going on the same night we were there and our 2 rooms were directly under the ballroom where the wedding reception was. Music kept us all up til midnight. It would have been 5 stars all the way otherwise
