Host & Stay | Brunswick Cottage

Summary:
Nestled in the quaint fishing village of Staithes, you’ll find Brunswick Cottage. Spread across three floors, this spacious and charming holiday home provides the perfect retreat on the North Yorkshire coast. Sleeping up to four guests, you’ll have everything you need for a relaxing self-catering stay by the sea.

The Space:
Brunswick Cottage has been decorated to the highest standard so you can expect lovely interiors and furnishings throughout.

Once inside the property, you’ll be welcomed into the modern kitchen and dining area. With crisp white cabinets, high shine black worktops and a matching splashback, this space is seriously stylish. Fully equipped for all stays, the kitchen boasts a fridge freezer, microwave, oven, hob, kettle and toaster. It also includes the added luxuries of a dishwasher, dryer and washing machine.

A great place to socialise, the dining table is in the centre of the space. With matching transparent dining chairs, the dining area is both contemporary and comfortable. Another perfect spot to catch up is the breakfast bar. The high stools face into the kitchen and dining area making it ideal for chatting over meals, relaxing with a coffee or helping prepare food with the rest of your party.

Set behind the kitchen and to the right of the staircase, you’ll find the cosy living area. With exposed brick walls and a sofa, this space feels snug and welcoming. Little quirks are added through the mismatched picture frames which adorn the walls and you’ll notice nods to Staithes history with sailing ornaments. A home from home, you can cuddle up on the corner sofa with your loved ones and enjoy quality time together. There is a 43" Smart TV so you can keep on top of your favourite shows during your stay and also a smart speaker.

Head upstairs to the first floor and you’ll find the first bedroom and bathroom. With a boutique hotel feel, the first bedroom is spacious and stylish. There are spotlights in the ceiling, cool grey coloured walls, and a blackout blind. You’ll enjoy your nights sleep at Brunswick Cottage as the double bed boasts the finest quality bedding and linens. Ideal for lazy mornings, switch on the wall mounted TV to watch Freeview channels.

With white tiles and chrome throughout, the first bathroom is an ultra clean and modern space. It boasts a large walk in shower, WC and basin.

Take the stairs up the second floor to find the second bedroom, bathroom and top landing space. The second bedroom has a traditional cottage feel with sloped ceilings, stained glass features and a window looking out the quiet street below. The comfy double bed has plush bedding and crisp linens. There is ample storage space as the room has matching chests of drawers, bedside tables and hooks with hangers.

The second bathroom is located off the top landing space. With sloped ceilings and a huge velux window, the top landing is the perfect place to relax. Retreat up here and lose track of time watching the sky above.

From here, you step up into the second bathroom. This space features a bathtub, handheld shower, WC and basin. There is a skylight window in the sloped ceiling giving you the perfect view of the clouds and stars above.

Staithes is a magnet for art and artists alike. Throughout the village you’ll find amazing painted illusions known as the ‘Painted Illusions Trail’ created by the famous artist Paul Czainski. It is also the home to the impressionist art society, known as Staithes Group, and their work can always be seen dotted around. Visit Staithes Gallery and browse the wonderful exhibits inspired by the village.

Not as good as expected.
On first impression, the property was nice and clean, apart from a strong sewage smell throughout the property. The front door did not unlock from the inside meaning we were locked in. We were not told about this fault beforehand therefore we were stuck. However after reporting this to the company they promptly sent out a locksmith to replace the locks. The bathroom smell was not good as there was clearly something wrong with the pipes. Apart from those couple of things the property was perfect.

Sunny Staithes in a comfortable cottage
This is my 4th stay in Staithes and second stay at Brunswick ...characterful, comfortable and great position. The bedrooms and bathrooms are superb. The kitchen is fully equipped. The lounge could be more spacious and better arranged but we were not in the cottage so much to worry about that. Local amenities, pubs, shops, cafes are all in easy reach and are excellent character for the brilliant village of Staithes.

Great Getaway
Nice cottage all as described. Staithes is a pretty village but the hill is very steep so not suitable for those with walking difficulties. Would advise that you book tables at the pubs well before hand.

Perfect little get away.
The cottage is ideally located in the centre of the village. It’s a beautiful, clean quirky place. The kitchen is well equipped. The beds were very clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed playing cards around the kitchen table and kicking off our walking boots at the end of the day to relax on the sofa.
