Very good

The place is old but elegant and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and kind. They serve complimentary wine with cheese and crackers and the breakfast is simple but good. The common areas are always welcoming and nice to sit and enjoy. It is very well located, close the union square and china town. We loved it!

Lots of homeless drug people around area. I didnt sleep all night because noise from outside. Valet parking was 57 a night and 30min turn around. Room was spacious and bed decent.
There was a bad odor in the main lobby. The room was ok, but the latch on the bathroom door was broken, and the pocket door itself was difficult to maneuver. Although the bed and pillows were comfortable, there wasn't much noise or light protection from the city outside. The pull shades didn't block nearly as much light as is really needed.
Very comfortable, pleasant hotel. Unfortunately I did not like San Francisco at all but that's not the hotel's fault. SF has a very serious problem with homeless people which is much worse than the last time i visited.
The hotel is charming; it has a European feel to it. The staff is friendly, and they had a little surprise for us on New Year's Eve that enhanced my stay. They also have a wine and cheese hour in addition to breakfast, which is a nice touch. While the hotel is in an older building and not recently renovated as many reviews state, it remains a charming hotel that is clean with friendly, helpful staff. I also enjoyed having a kitchen during my stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The staff went to great lengths to make NYE fun and memorable.
But the amount of plastic at breakfast and evening drinks was shocking. It would not be difficult to replace much of it with paper utensils.
When I checked in at the hotel I was told to pay for parking immediately, which I did! When I returned to the hotel I found out that there was no space for my car and I spent 30 minutes trying to find a space on the street and far away.
This was a family trip for my birthday. It was our kids (ages 2 and 4) first time in San Francisco so we wanted to be closer to Union Square.
The hotel has a vintage vibe but it was very comfortable and filled our family needs. There was a kitchen with a stove and microwave. The bath room was huge and my husband loved the bidet.
This property is very centrally located! A quick walk to union square. For such an old building, it is very well kept, clean and very comfortable beds!
The "free breakfast" could use an update and they did charge sales tax on the parking, which I'm not sure is legal...but, I guess since the price is "fair" for that area, this is one way to compensate the fee.
