Hotel Spero is a small, old renovated hotel that is nice and clean inside, but it’s in a rough neighborhood, Tenderloin, and there were hoards of homeless people everywhere on the streets. There were also 2 other hotel cleaning staffs picketing across the street from 7am-10pm blaring sirens, yelling, drumming, and keeping our family awake.
I spoke to the front desk and said we completely understood that they need to picket for better wages, but that we weren’t going to stay for the next two nights at the hotel and needed a refund for our remaining two nights. She told us to contact hotels.com who contacted the hotel management and refused our request, only offering to move us to a higher floor, which wouldn’t have accomplished anything.
Stay in Nob Hill or Fisherman’s Wharf or basically any other neighborhood, unless you enjoy covering your ears all night and dodging hundreds of people living on the street right outside.
The bathroom and room were also very tiny.
