Staff all very helpful and friendly. Great breakfast, and dinner/bar menu was superb. The chef uses locally sourced produce and the beer was fresh.
Thank you to all at TMH!
Lovely and inviting hotel in lovely country surroundings. Had a superior room on ground level which was very clean and created a calming atmosphere.
The evening meal and breakfast were superb in the stunning conservatory area.
Highly recommend this hotel.
Rooms decent size, nice view of the lake. Lots of parking available.
We were there for a wedding, the choice of wine’s behind the bar is poor (from a quality perspective, there was 4/5 different red bottles available). Very little range in price, no premium options.
Breakfast was included but we missed it as only served till 10 - on a weekend.
I left my charger in the room and it never got handed in to lost property. Be careful to double check you’ve left nothing behind.
We chose this hotel because it was the middle for both parties to reach in the country. The hotel was nice the room was spacious & tidy. The bed was comfy the pillows were far too hard. However there is spare ones in the wardrobe. They was supposed to replenish our room the following morning but missed the glasses the water etc. a quick chat at reception rectified it. The pub was nice with a a real fire & if you ask them to re light it they do. The staff were very friendly. The food was of very good quality the chunky chips were plentyful we had two meals in the bar area & all four of us were very happy with our meals. A little over priced. The breakfast wasn’t up to a great standard. It should not be of average for a lovely hotel. Coffee & tea cold fresh orange wasn’t great. The eggs needed to be cooked with so much less grease, the scrambled eggs were horrible. The bacon not done enough. I could go on. There wasn’t a great choice if you didn’t want the full English. A shout out to the young lady serving us called Millie. She was lovely.

The breakfast was a let down. rather poor. Hot food was luke warm and poor quality. Tea and coffee not piping hot as should be.
We stayed for 1 night. Beautiful hotel. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Room clean and tidy and plenty of room. Booked evening meal. We had the Christmas dinner which was absolutely beautiful. We would definitely recommend and stay at this hotel again.
Our seventh stay at the Moat House. So nice to see familiar faces as this shows the MH retains staff. Friendly reception staff, bar staff and attentive restaurant staff. A particular mention for Alex in the bar and Amy in the restaurant please.
We were surprised on our return to the room on day 2 that it had not been serviced. We were told that we should have put a sign out requesting service. This was new to us and ought to have been mentioned on check in.
We could not redeem our LP points on checkout as, apparently, we can only do this ‘at the till’. As everything went on one tab and we didn’t pay either at the bar or in the restaurant this appeared to be rather petty and irritating.
Apart from the above of course we will stay again. The restaurant is wonderful with skilled chefs respecting the food and mindful of their customers.
Very poor nights stay.
The staff (not the guest, the staff!) deemed it acceptable to slam doors and shout down the corridor to each other after 2300 and then again at 0700.
Had quieter nights sleep at a Travellodge.
When I asked why, they were apparently trying to fix the boiler…… Then fix it quietly so you don’t wake my young family at 0700 on a Sunday morning!
Close to the M6 The Moat House makes for a lovely staging post. Restaurant specialises in steaks. It’s stylish and popular with locals so booking is important. The hotel is an upgraded historical lodge and has stylish decor throughout. The room was spacious and comfortable. My only mild disappointment was the breakfast was a bit small. Overall strongly recommended.
