Stunning views of the lake from conservatory
but not our cheaper room which looked onto a courtyard. The spa/gym/ pool area was good although half of the gym equipment was broken and the pool itself looked a little grubby under water. The staff did their assigned roles but seemed disinterested in engaging with us, there weren't many smiles so perhaps some underlying unhappiness in their workplace?

Nice but very understaffed
Nice hotel but clearly struggling to staff properly. Long waits, not perfectly clean and all gym kit out of order.
It was right on the lake, had a very nice terrace and garden area to sit and have cocktails…. The ferry and the steam train were right there for day trips! We use to walk to the swan pub which was a 15 min walk thru a field with a pathway and grazing sheep! Breakfast was very nice had a menu with many choices…. While waiting you could help yourself to a cold buffet which had everything you could possibly think of. We enjoyed the pool, sauna and steam room.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff! Would highly recommend it

Liked: Cleanliness
The hotel is somewhat isolated with no obvious public transport links so you definitely need your own transport. Our room was ok but carpets were stained, furniture dated and chipped with handles missing off drawers. The hot water taps need a warning as the temp is almost boiling and this is a safety issue. Food quality was okay. Public areas were very good and clean. All in all a little disappointing for the price and missing the wow factor apart from the great views over Windermere.
Location was amazing, very near to many local amenities. Breakfast was fantastic and food at both restaurants for dinner was also delicious. Spa area is a super asset to the hotel. The only reason why I will not give a 5 star is because unfortunately we have a few electrical issues in our bedroom due to a cable nearby getting soaked in water, which triggered a switch and we kept loosing power to appliances ( we could charge phones/fan. However, they responded quickly when alerted but it kept happening.

Nice location and pool, but wouldn’t stay again
The location and the pool/spa are great. Hotel is a little tired in places and could do with updating e.g. no plug sockets by beds etc and wallpaper peeling.
Food in restaurant was good quality even though a little pricey. And breakfast was good with good options too.
Service was very hit and miss. Everyone friendly but hotel seemed to be run by a lot of inexperienced staff which made everything seem quite chaotic at times.
Breakfast was slow both days and had to keep reminding different staff about our order as things were missing. Clearly very busy but would still expect better given price paid. Also when ordered cream tea, only scones etc came, no hot drinks. Had to ask several times for them to be brought out.
The rooms were not to the standard for a 4star hotel the rooms were not cleaned properly the towels and the bathrobe had stains the bathroom fan was not working though we had mentioned to the reception and they never came back to us .The room smelt of damp.

Grounds and leisure facilities great
Best tip would be to get a parking pass on arrival and it will save you £5-and need to park behind the aquarium building or will need to move it during the night.
Entrance and reception lovely and staff very helpful. When i saw the room it was dark and the bed seemed a small double. The window was dirty and looked out on drain pipes and we got the noise from the kitchen and there was a lot of movement noise from the room above (we had room 216). Bathroom was nice size and clean but the door had spilt coffee marks and needed a coat of white paint. The bar was dark and cold with only a couple of people sitting in their coats in early evening-but there was a lovely decorated room with nice chairs next door which seem under used. People seemed to be taking drinks from the bar to the conservatory which had nice seats and a view of the lake-indoor plants needed some TLC. Grounds well maintained and were lovely and had plenty of seating with good service-had a lunch snack which was nice but over priced. Had a hot chocolate that was small with no cream or marshmallows and was £5 (more expensive than costa and not as good) The spa and pool was amazing-fab pool one for lane swimming and one for kids. Hot tub. steam and saun brill-this made my stay- just a shame it was 7 till 7- it would of been good if it was open till later.
Breakfast was good-plenty of choice and good service-we sat in the brassiere in stead of the main dining area which i think was best option.
Position of property beautiful by lake. Lots of outdoor seating options. eating options sadly limited. Most staff helpful and friendly especially breakfast staff. Unfortunately bistro staff not so much, one particularly surly!!
Bedroom furniture very old and old fashioned, but this would not stop me staying here again.
Not very suitable if walking is a problem as room 408 is a long walk from Reception including many stairs.
Rubber bath mats and grab handles in bath is needed.
Lovely child-friendly hotel. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff. Rooms a little dated but still very clean and spacious. Modern pool and spa area. Amazing view.
We had a lovely stay with a view over the lake from our room. We had lunch on the terrace right next to the lake and the sun was shining. The facilities were excellent, very friendly staff and delicious food. We came to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday and they decorated her room which was a lovely touch and much appreciated. Thank you!
