Great hotel, but not in the best location on weeke
Really enjoyed my stay at the Sofitel. Very professional and really appreciated the subtle French touches to align with the brand. Only small issue is that the location is more in the business part of the city so be prepared to walk to attractions, restaurants and bars if staying the weekend

Staff was particularly attentive and friendly. The hotel breakfast was one of the best I've ever had. I would go out of my way to book this hotel again on a trip back to Wellington.

Wonderful hotel and very attentive staff. The staff is what my stay enjoyable. When we arrived we had several problems. First, the room wasn't large enough to accommodate 3 adults. The staff upgraded us twice before we were satisfied. They blamed Expedia for this mistake. Of course this was for a cost. After having trouble finding the hotel, the parking was a disaster. Parking is on street, but there are restrictions during the day hours. We ended up accepting valet parking, but again at a cost. So overall the stay started poorly, but again I'll say the staff made it enjoyable. Very professional and well mannered.

Beautiful hotel in a very convenient location. Front desk staff wasn't very welcoming and the bed was too old it's already sinking.

Substandard. Def shouldn’t be five stars .. more like 3. Didn’t even have a heated towel rail. No real milk for tea. Tiny room. Shocking room service menu .. quiche Lorraine, burgers, fish & chips and club sandwich.. really??? More like a 70’s motor lodge. No salad or soup of lean meats or curry just a cheap menu that you would expect from a low rent takeaway bar. Not eve complimentary water. 3 stars at best. Will never stay here again. Sofitel should be ashamed def not up to their usual standard. I’d drop this branch!!

Beautiful rooms!!! I was staying in the Executive room with Club access. I love the evening happy hour from 5 to 7, it did indeed make me happy! Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Location is Fantastic!! Walking distance to Lambton Quay, Cuba Street, the National Museum, and Waterfront!! I would highly recommend Sofitel for your next stay in Wellington!

Nice hotel. Bad parking.
Excellent comfortable hotel. We did not eat at the hotel and were only there overnight. Parking is an issue. Its on a steep hill with limited street parking which is free 8pm-8am if you can find somewhere close by. Outside those hours it is 2 hour paid parking so you need to leave or move. Valet was $55. Self parking nearby but the entrance was too low for my mid size SUV. Who would design such a place?

There are not many good 5 star hotels in Nee Zealand, but this is a good one. Wonderful beds, great staff, lovely breakfast. You can tell this is a good hotel as it’s full of corporate guests. I would definitely come back again

Short staffed, but pleasant
Got in at 3pm after a late arriving flight. We were told our room wasn't ready, which considering the price was unacceptable. After sitting in the club for 5 minutes, the front desk assistant came through and said our room was now ready, but just handing the keys and telling us the floor, then ran off - obviously they were understaffed. No assistance with the luggage or anything else. Far from the other Sofitels I have stayed at in Asia. Very expensive for a 3.5-4 star experience. The dining area was nice and the staff seemed friendly. The location is good as it's close, but not as close as the Intercontinental (which does have excellent service too). The rooms were nice, although the AC was not working particularly well, so in the afternoon when the sun hit the window the room became an oven, despite having the setting down as low as it would go. The rain shower head was about to fall from the ceiling too, but still worked luckily - it was very good. All up, a mixed experience. I prefer the Intercon for the same price. The trip got off to a bad start with the plane being late and we in turn were late for an appointment, the hotel don't know this but tell their staff, you don't know how bad a day your guests are having. Our's was a an inconvenient day that was made into a bad day by these gestures. They have a long way to go before they are close to their international brand standards.
