Didn’t William Wallace look great in a kilt? We think he did, and we think you would too. That’s why you should go to Glasgow, Scotland, and pick up an authentic one.
But there’s much more to do there than prance around in what some would call a plaid dress. This place is loaded with museums, art galleries, pubs and shopping outlets, so if you get bored, that’s on you. Check out lastminute.co.nz’s superb offers on packages to Glasgow and toast yourself with a fine glass of scotch.
Things to Do in Glasgow
After you’ve dropped off your luggage at your Glasgow accommodation, go explore the city. Start your journey with a visit to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, located in the city’s West End. There are all sorts of items in the collection, like a Spitfire LA198 fighter plane, Sir Roger the Asian Elephant and armour from medieval knights. This place has everything!
Once you find your way out of the museum, head over to one of the city’s main shopping precincts. Start on Sauchiehall Street, where there’s plenty of cool stuff to check out, like the Glasgow Empire Theatre and the Royal Theatre. Then take a walk down Buchanan Street and get yourself a kilt. Don’t forget to stop in one of the pubs for a glass of locally distilled scotch!
Getting to & Around Glasgow
Your journey to William Wallace’s home turf will begin when you land at Glasgow Airport (GLA), 11 km from the city centre. You can take the shuttle bus service straight to downtown, where many of the hotels in Glasgow are located. If you’re staying in the city centre, getting around on foot is the easiest way to explore, but there are also several bike hire companies you can check out in case you feel like pedalling. If you want to venture to other districts in town, Glasgow boasts a wonderful public transport system you can take advantage of.
We know you can hear the sound of bagpipes from your living room couch. Browse our fantastic offers on Glasgow hotels and follow that harmonious melody all the way to the highlands. And if Glasgow isn’t enough, we also have great deals on Edinburgh hotels so you can visit another famous Scottish city in one trip!
