A Classic, with Pros and Cons
This hotel is located in the heart of downtown Santa Monica, so you can easily walk to the most popular places in Santa Monica. That's great, since driving and finding parking in downtown Santa Monica is sometimes not fun. The hotel is in an older building, but it has been well updated, and the accommodations are great, especially the comfortable beds. The staff is extremely friendly and proactive. In exchange for the great location, you have a few trade-offs. There's no free breakfast, though a couple of very good places right nearby will give a 15% discount on breakfast if you show your room card. Also, as the hotel is right downtown, you may be able to hear buses as they start running early in the morning and the occasional rabble rouser making some noise late at night. Personally, I'd stay here again. They really go out of their way to take care of their guests, and you can't beat the location.

Perfect location, exceptional staff
Super friendly, super helpful staff. Checked in easily and quickly after being delayed by half a day. Used the valet parking, that was a breeze too. Our room (200) was much bigger than expected, like a small apartment and had everything we need. They location is second to none and made exploring Santa Monica easy! Thanks again to all the staff there.

Highly recommend
The building was historic and beautiful. The staff was very polite, friendly, and receptive to anything we needed. Having 24hr valet service was convenient however we didn't use our car much since we were a block from the beach, 2 blocks from the santa monica pier, across the street from the mall, and righ next to the shopping district we had everything we needed for the weekend. We truly enjoyed our stay and i look forward to staying again.

Haunted for Sure!
Saw Cirque DU Soliel which was great but got back to the room at 11pm and the guest upstairs decided to start walking. Loudly. Until 8am the following morning! Crazy. Tried to call to let them know there's an insomniac trying to get their steps but the phone didn't work. TV didn't work either. And the beds--bad, bad, bad! We came home and selt for two days to make up for this terrible $300/night room.

The photos do not accurately reflect the poor condition of the property. The bathroom in particular was very old. The heating wasn’t working in the room. Do not recommend.
