Holidays in Wan Chai

You'll probably regret that third Mai Tai and devouring that 4 a.m. kebab, but you will never regret travel. So we reckon it’s about time you checked out Wan Chai, Hong Kong! You'll be sharing the city's streets with some 7,000,000 friendly residents. Try to meet a few of them! From the city centre, Wan Chai is located 2 kilometres to the east. You'll most likely be arriving via Shenzhen International Airport (SZX), so after you've grabbed your bags you'll need to travel 55 kilometres to the southeast.

Wan Chai is a sightseer's wonderland. A great deal of the city's attractions are sprinkled near this interesting neighbourhood, including Soho and the International Finance Centre. Don't forget to put the Madame Tussauds and Lan Kwai Fong on your schedule too. While you're in town, think about visiting a few other neighbourhoods to appreciate more of what Hong Kong has to offer. Wan Chai Road and Causeway Bay are great suggestions that are close by.

Seeing famous sights such as Ocean Park is one of the greatest things about travelling. If you're planning to base yourself in Wan Chai, it's not hard to get to. It's situated just 3 kilometres to the south.

If you're in the mood for exploring some highlights in the city centre, make sure you include Pacific Place and the University of Hong Kong. Victoria Park and Flower Market are a couple more of the area's biggest draws.

Exhausted after a long and tiring day? Take time to let it all hang loose at the Happy Valley Race Course and Jumbo Kingdom!

Deepen your understanding of the region at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Edge Gallery, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Grotto Fine Art. These cultural attractions can't be missed!

Art galleries such as the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Asia Art Archive, the University Museum and Art Gallery and the Cattle Depot Artist Village offer a glimpse into the creative side of the area. Why not check if there are any upcoming exhibitions and discover some of the wonderful works?

If you find yourself stuck in horrible weather, take cover at the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Police Museum, the Hong Kong Science Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences. The eclectic displays are sure to keep your imagination buzzing and your clothes dry!

One of the gauges of a great show is often how thunderous the applause is when the curtains go down. See the audience rise to their feet at the City Hall Concert Hall, the Sunbeam Theatre, the Yau Ma Tei Theatre and the Ko Shan Theatre.

Locating attractions for the kids is often a top priority when preparing for a family holiday. Don't miss the Victoria Peak Tram, the Hong Kong Central Library and the City Hall Public Library.

As you know, kids have unbounded energy. Fortunately, there are some places nearby you can take them to blow off some steam. Middle Road Children’s Playground, Lung Fu Shan Country Garden and the Hong Kong Observation Wheel are some popular choices.

Sky 100, Repulse Bay Beach, Middle Bay and High West Peak are some of the best places for nature buffs to get some fresh air.

Put on your hiking shoes and walk through the nearby ecological reserves, such as the Hong Kong Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the Charter Garden.

One of the most appealing things about this place is its nearby green spaces. Amid all the activity, there are plenty of spots to take a short walk or read a book. Kowloon Park, Fa Hui Park, Kowloon Walled City Park and Hong Kong Park are great options.

Sometimes the easiest way to get the feel of a new place is by hanging out at the shops. Make sure you call in to Habour City, Nathan Road Shopping District, Ladies' Market and Times Square Shopping Mall.

You never know what you'll uncover at Bank of China Tower, the Avenue of Stars, International Commerce Centre and Government House. These time-weathered sites have plenty of tales to share.

Discover the region's spiritual dimensions or just take a moment in the beautiful surrounds of the Man Mo Temple, the Tin Hau Temple, the Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre and Hong Kong St. John's Cathedral.
