The Drift is a nice place, very close to the beach and the main esplanade strip if you want to grab a coffee or a meal. But it has an extensive pool complex inside, with a real rainforest feel - complete with animal chirps and squawks all night long. The pool was freezing (mid-August) but there is a communal hot tub and plenty of lounges to sunbake on. It's quiet inside, other than the constant animal noises after dark.
A bit odd that you would have to pay extra for Wi-Fi, if there was any actual reception in the rooms. So you have to rely on your own 3G or 4G, which works fine, but chews up serious bandwidth if you want to watch Netflix. Our room had a DVD player, but couldn't play HD BluRay discs. Given it's 2016 it's probably about time they got updated tech, yeah? Did I mention there was no Wi-Fi reception?
Would I go back there? Sure, but maybe I'd haggle over the rates a bit first.
