Best hotel yet!
If you are visiting Scotland you need to stay at this hotel. It was very walkable to all the excursion around the city such as the Edinburgh castle and the royal palace. It was a fast check in and every staff member was very nice and professional. When you leave the hotel and arrive back there is always someone there to open the door and ask about your day. The room was very spacious and had great room service. I will be returning!

We loved our stay at The George Hotel in Edinburgh. We were able to walk to the train, to Old Town, and to shopping/dining in New Town. Breakfasts were excellent. Staff were warm and gracious. Comfortable bed, thoughtful amenities and BBC Scotland on the radio. Lovely holiday decorations as well. Highly recommended.

At check in I was upsold a view to the river which was essentially a standard room with a view that was far from spectacular. All rooms have windows and I cannot imagine how the view I got was better than that of my same si de standard room. My take is that they just wanted to upsell me to increase my all in rate without delivering anything valuable in return. I am not against the concept but if you upsell you should offer something that improves the experience. This time it did not.

Great weekend stay in central Edinburgh! Hotel is lovely! The lounge access extra charge was well worth the money ! Every member of staff were attentive, helpful and friendly! We will be back!

This hotel is not worth its cost. Some of the rooms lookout into the neighbors, no city view at all. No morning coffee in lobby. No place to just grab a pastry and go before heading out in the morning. No usb ports. Our showers did not work. I would not stay here again.

I normally don’t like to review places or sounds negative but this case deserves one. This review is a combination of the standards/price of the hotel combined with Hotels.com prices. 1. £600 pound for 2 nights without breakfast is in my opinion not worth the money. The property is very old, rooms are nothing special and the phone/WiFi reception is none. The WiFi does not work and normal service is for some reason non existing in the room. 2. I booked the room 3 weeks in advance, 1 week before the arrival I saw on hotels.com and all other sites that the same room for the two nights was £430 instead of £600. I contacted hotels.com that said they don’t do price guarantee anymore and I was not able to cancel. I contacted the hotel, they said they can’t touch the reservation since it’s made by via hotels.com even though it was around 30% cheaper one week before. 3. Elevators taking you to the gym not working so you need to go out of the hotel and have a porter escorting you. 4. Location was great. The only think positive. As a summary, I think there are so many better options in the city for this type of money. And unless you don’t want to use your phone while at the hotel please stay away.

All staffs we encountered were very friendly and made us feel welcomed except the check-in/out receptionists. The lobby at the time of check-out was crowded, and there's no clear waiting line for the check-in/check-out desk queue, a receptionist just stood there, and not providing any information or instruction to the guests the queue of the line. Bellmen were much more helpful and provided us the accurate and needed information about the area. The reception staffs need more training. Room is clean but furniture and paint seemed outdated and can use a bit touch-up. Location is convenient.
