I stayed at this hotel because it was the site of a conference I recently attended. My experience and therefore this review will be mostly blah or negative, so let me start with the positive: If you like historical architecture and learning about early Hollywood, then this is a neat place to visit. The indoor pool was neat, and some of the meeting spaces had ornate ceilings and light fixtures which reminded me of Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. It's also worth noting that the staff was friendly, and I heard other guests express excitement that the hotel was supposedly haunted. However, I found very little else enjoyable. Things I didn't appreciate: 1. The hotel location: It was a pain to navigate to it in downtown LA, and the parking structure is old and also difficult to navigate. If your vehicle is taller than 6'4", you may not clear the self-parking and may have to do valet, which is another expense. The surrounding area feels unsafe, especially after sunset, which made me feel trapped in the hotel. 2. The room: My room was on the 11th floor, which I thought maybe meant it was fancy, but the mirror had part of its frame broken off, the bathroom sink wobbled, and the shower head made a very strange noise when I ran the water. Perhaps worse was that the AC definitely did not work very well, which meant I had a hard time falling asleep in a warm, stuffy room. 3. The conference site layout: I didn't love how spread out the spaces were for the conference.

This was a last minute decision by my wife and she picked a fantastic hotel which was worth every cent! Not only has this hotel been depicted in lots of movies, they actually provided us with a list. My children and I had lots of fun looking for various film spots... my only regret was not seeing the ballroom they filmed with Ghostbusters!! Back to the hotel... all the staff are super friendly and helpful, the room was well laid out. We are a family of four and it was very comfortable for us. The beds were nice, bathroom facilities good and it was easy to get in and out. This is going to be our hotel of choice whenever we can get back to LA.

Biltmore needs some love!
I know Covid has really damaged the hotel industry. I expected more from the Biltmore. This is a very tired hotel and is in serious need for a major renovation. Although some of the public spaces are still grand, many of them need to be reimagined into new purposes. The paint around our window was chipping and the tub needed to be re-glazed. The room was large but the bathroom is very small with little surface area to put toiletries. There is no valet parking and no room service. They don't even serve coffee in the lobby in the morning. Overall this was a disappointing experience.
