I thought the property was very nice and the room was amazingly laid out with a nice spacious bathroom. It’s a good thing we paid for a room with a fireplace cause on the second morning of the stay we lost power at approximately 0600 hours and never had power for the rest of the stay. We returned to our room that night at approximately 2330 hours to find the power out still and we walked to the office to see what was going on, we were told that we could be released from our contract and could pack and leave and I was like where are we going to go, and how are we suppose to pack in the pitch dark no lanterns or anything to offer. We couldn’t even take a hot shower as the hot water runs on electric as well. On Sunday morning, we were late to our event due to the fact that we had to check out of the hotel but had to wait til it was light enough to see in order to pack all of our belongings and get them to the car. The sheets on the bed were the only thing I have to complain about physically with the room as they are obviously worn out and rough down by the bottom of the sheet where all customers with rough feet make the material rough, thin, and ready to be exhausted and replaced. When we checked out since I had paid at the property I made my complaint and asked for a receipt to be sent to me via email since they still did not have power to print, that I never received, along with a discount for our inconveniences. The hotel is very nice. Due to a power outage, we were moved to a first floor room, where the floor was VERY cold, so bring slippers with you. Since we were downgraded from a suite to a room, I requested a monetary compensation. The management refunded me the first night's stay, which was very generous. I would definitely stay there again.

I really enjoyed my stay at this property as I haven't been back in years. The room was a bit smaller than I had remembered on my last visit but it did serve the purposes I need for this weekend. Unfortunately, there was severe weather storm that knocked out power on the day I was leaving and it made it challenging to obtain a final receipt and coffee. This location is walkable to downtown Monterey and close to mass transit. It is a beautiful property with a secret herb garden and beautiful swimming pool.

Great value for the Money
First time to Monterey and booked this hotel and overall it was a good stay. Value for the money is great as you are in walking distance of a lot of places near downtown. Customer service was excellent in all areas, their on site restaurant was great and food was delicious! Room smelled a bit musty and felt “cozy” but was overall clean and I appreciated the indoor fireplace. It’s a good hotel and I’d recommend it!

Unusual circumstances
I happened to stay when Monterey experienced a blackout after a wind storm so it’s difficult to comment because of the unusual circumstances. I was not offered any compensation. Housekeeping went into my room even though I had the ‘Privacy Please’ sign on my door. The fire alarm went off 3 times while I was there. I was sitting by the fireplace having coffee when an other guest’s dog got loose, jumped on me spilling the coffee all over my expensive sweater and the chair. Again, no offer of compensation of any kind.

The power was out and we got a handicap room.Have stayed there many times and was very pleased.This time the room was much smaller and the heater was very noisy. We will return again and figure this trip was uncommon for this hotel .

The place was very well pulled together. The staff was extremely warm and friendly. The restaurant manager was very nice and seated us and explained the menu before the server came over. He went over and above! Great central location. Easy to get in and out. Walkable to most things.

My experience was not so good because the transformer blew and the power went out. Also, the faucet in the shower cannot be regulated so it's constantly very hot water almost couldn't take a shower. The fan was so loud turning off and it woke me up quite a few times.

Relaxing weekend
Last minute trip with my niece. This hotel was centrally located & we walked a LOT. The front desk person was exceptionally kind & allowed us to enter the room early. We ate at their restaurant this morning before checking out. Many people had their dogs with them. A great stay!
