For a 3-star hotel charging $270 a night, this is the worst Best Western we’ve ever stayed at. Upon check-in, we were greeted with a poker face, and my husband and I were immediately put off. The front desk staff seemed uninterested and lacked basic professionalism. I mistakenly gave my name for the reservation instead of my husband’s, and rather than asking if it was booked under a different name, the staff awkwardly asked when we booked the room. Then, she asked for our credit card, only to look at it and hand it back, which made no sense. To the front desk girl who checked us in: if you’re going to work in hospitality, it’s time to step up your game—and maybe work on fixing that poker face.
The room was outdated, with a dirty old carpet, and the bathroom reeked of chlorine bleach. If it’s your first time in San Diego, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We only booked this hotel because Kona Kai, right next door, was sold out, and we definitely won’t be back.
