Cottage on May – Newly listed!

Enjoy this historic 1935 home which has been recently renovated with brand new amenities.

Location – Location – Location. The Cottage on May is only 1.6 miles from Vilano Beach, a favorite spot for the locals. The Fountain of Youth and Old Jail are only a five-minute walk. Take a romantic stroll down the picturesque Magnolia Avenue, one of the most photographed streets in the USA. Historic downtown, St. George Street and the Castillo de San Marcos fort are a short 20-minute walk, only one mile. Restaurants, Antique Shops and many Boutiques are within walking distance. Don’t feel like walking? There are a couple of bicycles in the shed that you are welcome to use. Also available are beach chairs, beach umbrella and boogie boards.

This home is a three-bedroom split plan, allowing the adults a bit of privacy from other guests. The master bedroom has its own bath with shower. The guest bedrooms share another bath which has a tub. All bedrooms have Smart TV’s with complimentary Comcast programming. The home also has high speed internet with Wi-Fi throughout. Home has Central A/C and all bedrooms have ceiling fans.

The kitchen has been updated with new appliances, cabinetry and quartz countertops. The focal point of our kitchen is the original brick chimney once used for a wood burning stove. Neatly stowed away you will find all the necessary gadgets to accommodate your stay. Adjacent to the kitchen is the Mud Room, complete with large Washer, Dryer, sitting area and farm sink to rinse the sand off after a relaxing day at the beach.

The Living Room is a wonderful place to relax, complete with reading nook, fireplace and television. The gorgeous original wood floors add to the historic charm. Off the Living Room is a cozy Sunroom complete with seating area and writing desk. Looking out the front window, you will see the historic “Pink Castle” home which is a historic St. Augustine landmark.

What we love most about our home is the outdoor areas. The home is completely nestled beneath a canopy of stately oak trees which are draped with Spanish Moss. An outdoor dining area is set up under a beautiful pergola with string lights that set the mood. Enjoy some S’mores at the firepit chiminea. A new Weber gas grill is also available. The yard is plenty large enough for the young ones to play.

No issues with parking at this home. There are three spaces in the front driveway and two more in the rear driveway off San Carlos Avenue.

For your safety, the home has passed the fire department safety inspection. It is complete with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguisher, egress diagrams and emergency lighting.

Beautiful holiday vacation
It was a real treat stain at the cottage on May. The house is very quaint and a real throwback to a different era. The property was spacious and the yard was fairly well maintained. A big plus for us were two bicycles that were available in the Back shed. We would definitely recommend this property.

My family and I just stayed this past weekend at this charming cottage and it did not disappoint. It was tastefully decorated, clean, and had all the necessary comforts of home readily available. There was an informative catalogue offered that provided some helpful local information if you weren’t familiar with the area. Perfect location to downtown, Anastasia Island, and all the places we were hoping to visit. The owners were very communicative and helpful. This house is such an amazing place to stay!! Myself and 6 other girls stayed here for my bachelorette weekend and this place was PERFECT!! The vibe was great for a girls trip and it had everything we needed! It was very spacious and very close to downtown and the beach!! We had such an amazing time staying here. The owner was very easy to reach and even sent us a sweet personalized gift for me and the girls!! I would very highly recommend this place for families, friends, or anyone!!

We rented this cottage because it was not far from the historic areas and restaurants; however, when we arrived, the environment was so serene that we only went out to dinner once, and to the beach to watch the sunrise. This cottage is spacious, and in a very quiet neighborhood. The literature placed in the resting areas added such a homely touch. This home and property is amazing. I’ve stayed in various areas of St. Augustine and this was by far my favorite. The hosts have done an outstanding job stocking this home with literally everything you might need - even food for the wildlife. The decor is beautiful, with an especially lovely backyard great for morning coffee and outdoor dining. We had a very small wedding in the yard and it was magical. Very much appreciate all the hosts did to make it special. Will definitely stay here again.

When we stayed here, we were so close to everything we wanted to do, and the location is very walkable. And the house couldn’t be cuter! Overall Great Stay!
We spent 3 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed the house. Its a historic beauty, clean and in a great location. Its walkable to historic St. Augustine and an easy bike ride to Vilano Beach. The yard is great, and we appreciated the usable bikes. Also loved that they decorated for the holidays and provided snack bags. On the downside, the dishwasher did not work, and neither did the outdoor grill. We notified the hosts.

We had a great time at this property, it was so clean and cute inside, had everything we needed and the host was so nice. The host left us a beautiful basket that was tailored to our group, which was a really thoughtful touch! There was a little issue with beds but the host fixed it immediately! My husband and myself along with 2 other couples decided to spend our wedding anniversaries in St. Augustine this year. I found the listing for this home and it was exactly as the photos described. This home is located in a great proximity to many historic attractions and the beach. There are too many extras to list but there is not a detail missing. You will not be disappointed if you choose this home. This was my first VRBO transaction/stay and 17 May has set the bar pretty high. If we return to the area again, we hope to stay here.

Post Disney Relaxation
We stayed in St. Augustine following our Disney Vacation. We do this often because we all know that Disney is not relaxing. This charming cottage was the perfect spot for our family to enjoy St. Augustine and relax. The proximity to the beaches, as well as downtown was perfect for us. We were able to walk around when we wanted to and the short drive to down was perfect. The cottage itself was absolutely beautiful and clean! Anything and everything we needed during our stay was thought of and available for us. The size was perfect for me, my husband, our two kids and my grandparents. Wonderful Home Away from Home
The Cottage on May was perfect for our family of five. The home was equipped with everything we needed during our stay. We had plenty of space and walked everywhere we needed to go in St. Augustine's historic area. We really only used the car to head to the beach or grocery store, all of which was super close. Hayley was an exceptional host and provided a special treat for the kids to enjoy on Easter. It made them feel really special. Everything you need is provided and then some. I would definitely recommend staying here and we will definitely book again when returning to the area.
