We stayed here back in March 2020 and now I am wondering if the hotel cleanliness was better because cleaning was heightened before the pandemic broke out. Or we were just happy with a bed and a shower after we were camping with our toddlers fora couple of days out in North Shore. While the facade right after checking was charming and gave a boutique retro feel, we realized soon after how poor the conditions of the room really were. The shower was dirty, the shower curtain smelled like a wet dog, there was hair and sticky stuff on the bathroom floor, the closet smelled really wet and musky. The carpet in the room was dark and gross and I had asked my family to wear their slippers in the room which I typically have a rule to leave it by the front door. The be economical they don't clean the room everyday- which is okay. But they give you these really hard crusty towels. We stayed in Laie for the first leg of the trip and honestly I could have gone without this part. Really disappointed and won't be back.

I liked the pool bar with the swings! Jets don't work but the hot tub was hot and enjoyable. Staff was nice. Room had a nice layout with frig, microwave, water boiler and sink in kitchen area.

It's Quirky & fun but...the hot tub has no jets but has a neat lottle waterfall feature. But again whats a hot tub eith no jets, the pool isnt heated at all...definetely not enough chairs by pool, bar is super cute but be prepared to drop a $20 for a drink. They have fun complementary slushies in the afternoon & coffee in the a.m. No elevator, so be prepared, they have 3 floors. Staff were very friendly. Completely affordable and just 2 blocks from the beach so you could walk tons of places! Decor is retro & fun if your into that vibe! Our balcony faced a wall to an apartment building so that super sucked so we didnt even sit out there and literally balconies were one of the reasons i booked the room.

The pool area is beautiful, a hideaway and nice area to relax. The room is worn, it is styled in a 60/70's vibe. The balcony overlooked some yards and its very close to the building next door. The bedding was worn and there were stains on the carpet... I asked for a later check out and the person was going to check but didnt get back to me.(It was only for 1/2 hour so not really a big deal). There is no elevator in the building but they offer to help you with your bags. Overall, not bad. The pool and pool bar are really cute. My daughter loved it.

I had an amazing stay. Toby the bartender made me feel so welcomed and was so kindhearted. The staff was all very friendly and kind. I was staying because I was displaced for plumbing work in my apartment so the company put me in this hotel and I am very glad they chose the WS

The White Sands was adorable! Lived the old school charm!! The staff was absolutely amazing! Super sweet, friendly and inviting! I truly enjoyed myself! The only 2 complaints! They need more pool loungers and in the room the carpet is damp because of the humidity!;

I recently stayed here a week prior to Halloween. The first room we were assigned to had dirty beds and a badly stained carpet, so we had to move to another room. The staff provided great assistance and also gave me a credit for the inconvenience. The swim up bar had good food and drinks. Their speak easy was a vibe. If I were to return to Hawaii, I wouldn’t mind staying as long as I get a clean room.

We really enjoyed our room. My husband was in pain, and glad our room only had one flight of stairs. (2nd floor) The view was perfect; we had a "Pool View Room". With all the high-rise hotels packed side-by-side, it was nice to be in a 3-story with bamboo railings toward the pool. Seemed like a quaint oasis with the palm trees close enough for me to actually touch the leaves. ... There wasn't a bathtub in the room; it was a shower. (Small, but not a problem for either of us.) We did a lot of walking to catch buses, so my husband really needed a good long soak in Epsom salts. ❤️ ... Staff was always helpful and very friendly. Plenty of places to eat nearby. (If you have a Sam's Club card, you can get lunch really cheap!) Get a Holo card at 7-Eleven or ABC Stores, and ride the bus all day for $10. ... There's a street market on Duke's Lane (which is the south end of Nohinani St where the hotel is.) It's a block long. 5 blocks from the beach if walking. ... Bring your favorite tea bags, instant coffee or French press. There's no coffee pot in the room, but there is this amazing jet-boiler. For drinks or ramen cups or oatmeal. 😃 And they do have coffee and lattes (free) at the desk from 5 am to 11 am. and other refreshing beverages later on. .. Balcony was private enough to hang clothes over a chair to dry if I had to wash something. It rained during our stay, and the desk is outside, but I didn't melt, and I had taken an umbrella. .. I would definitely stay there again.

Amazing stay and very comfortable. The staff are very attentive and always available. The bonus is that there is a bar and restaurant right in the middle of the hotel. It has amazing views. Nice and friendly for families with children and pets. Overall, I give it a 8/10 and I’d definitely stay here again.
