We were staying in London before getting the Eurostar to France and The Standard is about as convenient as you can get without paying the exorbitant prices at the St Pancras Hotel. Having said that, it wasn't cheap, but that is London these days. There was a problem with our credit card - their machine kept getting an error - and the woman at the desk blamed it on our card, saying it was because it was a cash-back card, which has nothing to do with it working! I'm sure it was an issue with either their machine or our bank, but the error code was useless. We ended up having to use a debit card which wasn't ideal. It would perhaps have been better to have us try again later in the day. They had the card number from the reservation and it worked then anyway.
Aside from that, the room was clean and comfortable and the air conditioning worked well and wasn't noisy as is sometimes the case. We had a drink on the roof terrace which was OK, but there were no places to sit and the drinks were pre-mixed which is a bit disappointing at the price. Dinner in Isla was very nice and the service was very good. We had wanted to eat at Decimo but it was being renovated which it didn't say anywhere on the website, so that was a bit disappointing as well. All in all, it was useful for our needs, but definitely isn't cheap.
