The rating I’ve given doesn’t reflect the outstanding staff and the level or service they provided. They were incredibly helpful and couldn’t have done any more. Unfortunately, our stay was let down by factors out of their direct control, but it’s something the hotel itself might want to consider going forward.
Our room was perfect for what we needed for one night - we were staying as my partner was having surgery at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and were leaving around 6.30am. The lovely lady who checked us in offered me a packed lunch for the next day when we mentioned how early we were checking out, which I thought was a lovely touch.
However, we were kept awake until the early hours due to the snoring coming from next door, to the point our room was actually shaking. The lad covering the night desk gave us another room when I went down and explained around 1am, and although it was much quieter, it was incredibly hot, so neither of us slept well at all. There was also a lot of doors banging around 5am which disturbed us again. I appreciate you can’t control guests snoring, but it was that loud, it didn’t actually feel like there was any noise barrier at all between the rooms and corridors and I’ve never stayed in a hotel before where this has been the case.
One other thing to note is the bathroom light is on a sensor, so I was actually plunged into darkness twice while taking a shower!
