After managing to get inside (the first main hotel I've ever seen around the world where arriving guests may have to buzz for entry to get past the firmly-closed 'automatic' front doors, unless you have a key card), check-in was fine, although I had to correct a couple of things about the room that was first offered.
However, the hotel itself was very nice, and all the staff were also notably very friendly. The room was also a good size, and quite comfortable and clean. The TV remote was terrible - confusing to be able to adjust the volume - and the in-room safe lock just wouldn't work properly, but they were minor issues.
Packed breakfast times were something of a free-for-all, but the food selection was fair, and the staff on hand were helpful and efficient.
Waiting times for the small lifts/elevators were often a slight issue, but that can be common in a hotel like this.
The area around the hotel is rough and run-down, but that's London for you. There's a Tube station very close by, so travel was very handy and easy; also a decent Tesco supermarket around the corner for stocking up on food or essentials.
So, overall, we had a good stay, and it was good value for money. I'd definitely recommend staying here, and will look to see if it's available again for any future stays.
