I decided to stay here for a change, as I usually stay at the Holiday Inn next door but had seen pictures of this and thought it looked quite nice!
I really like the decor. It’s quite trendy and modern and has a Britpop influence to it. Is it very strange hotel however, but I can’t quite put my finger on why. The place was clean and it had plenty of available parking, for a small fee.
Where it fell apart for me was the service. The staff were quite young and they seemed quite disinterested in you as a customer. I’ve never had a lime and soda cordial without the lime cordial in it. The barman didn’t really listen to my request, so I just left it to save messing about.
The food is more bar food than what you would expect for a filling meal so you might want to consider eating elsewhere unless you just want a snack. Breakfast was good and as part of a buffet style, which I prefer. You also receive a token for a free cocktail or mocktail on arrival, which I thought was a nice touch, but because of the poor service I decided not to bother using it as I wasn’t sure if I was going to get my choice of drink.
I would certainly stay again but it would be good to have more attentive staff.
