Classy big hotel. Convenient for transport, night life, and everything Newcastle has to offer. Comfy and quiet.

NEEDS SOME TENDER LOVING CARE
This hotel is great for location, but sadly needs some TLC - yes it maybe 175 years old, but some areas really do need attention, chips in enamel bath, A/C not working. soap dispenser not refilled to name a few issues. Our main point also refers to poor maintenance as there was the constant drips and syphoning sounds throughout the night coming from the toilet. Despite closing the bathroom door the noise did certainly not give us a good nights sleep.
We went for the night for our 21st wedding anniversary, i did message someone to see if they could arrange something for my husband for our anniversary, because he his mam had just passed away and i wanted to make the anniversary special for him. But getting to the hotel nothing was even arranged.

Perfection
A lovely and clean hotel perfect for our short break. The breakfast was plentiful and very relaxed and the staff on reception were extremely helpful and lovely.
The room itself (106) was impeccably clean and tidy and absolutely huge!
All mod cons were available and the noise from the club was minimal- the earplugs in the bedside table were a nice touch though!
The only issue we had was with the pool area- you have to cross to an adjoining building and it was not as clean or well maintained as the rest of the hotel. The spa pool didnt bubble very much but was still lovely and warm and again the staff were helpful- it just felt dated.
The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly. The hotel is central to the city.
Only down side was the proposed charge for car parking £24 for 24 hours.
This should be advise prior. I had to park my car in a local multi-storey at a reduced cost of £8.75

Property needs some updating squeaky floor boards otherwise friendly staff conveniently located and good breakfast
Overall a good weekend stay! The parking is extremely expensive at 19 pound odd per 24 hours but the hotel it’s self I can’t fault! The bathroom could be mopped better by cleaners too
A gorgeous hotel (check out the twin chandeliers in the foyer) with incredibly helpful staff and very spacious rooms. Everything worth seeing in Newcastle is within a few minutes walk of this hotel. In fact, the walk to the leisure suite takes in the castle and Tyne Bridge! Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely vibe and good location
A great location in the centre of Newcastle and an impressive building. It has the feel of somewhere that was once really grand but needs a bit of money spending on it now. The rooms are spacious and we had a double sized family room, which was lovely, but basics like bedside tables are missing. There was also a pool and spa area, which was an unexpected bonus but looked a bit tired in places. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.
