The wall was super thin. Literally could hear whatever the next door person talk or do. The outside hall door were so loud, felt the room was shaking whenever someone close it. Couldnt sleep well or have a good night rest.

Close to the sea front and town food was good buffet style for breakfast. Bed and pillows to firm otherwise a decent enough place to wash and change before exploring.

Okay stay

A bed for the night is all we needed. It was a nice surprise to be put in a room with a sea view. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The room did smell musty, had loads of cobwebs on the ceiling, but had everything needed for an overnight stay.

Overall our stay was very good. The hotel building is very old but lives up to it's name as it is very grand. Don't go expecting "The Ritz" there are marks and cracks but the building is stunning and its history is fascinating and being pet friendly was fantastic as we were able to take our pooch on our 2 night break. Parking can be a little hard as there are other hotels, aswell as daytrippers wishing to park in the area but if your lucky you will get one, just don't park in any loading areas as you will get a ticket. Our room with it's sea view's was great, so much space to move around was fantastic, with being a family of 4 (children older teenagers) we wasn't squeezing past one another like we have in other hotels, and the benefit of having seats and a coffee table looking out on the sea view's was fab, normally we have to sit on the beds. The room had all the usual things like kettle, hairdryer etc but also the added benefit of a small chiller, robe and slippers, the shower was great too, quite powerful considering. I would recommended taking a small extention lead with extra sockets though. There is a lift which does only allow 3 people at a time, but we used the stairs so that didnt effect us. Overall our stay was very good and we would definitely stay again, don't believe some of the negative comments you read about the hotel. I imagine they will be the typical busybodies that complain about anything rather than enjoy their breaks.

Sadly our stay at this hotel was not the best. We paid extra for a room with a window but the window was fully covered and could only be slightly open. Shower and bath were broken and leaking. Room and hall way smelt rather bad throughout the whole stay. Receptionist was lovely but the place is definitely run down from my last stay.

Family meet up.

Room too warm couldn't leave window open due to room right next public footpath. Bed and pillow like concrete. Smell of people smoking in hotel left at 7.30 in morning would definitely not recommend. Seagulls squawking all night.

Converted broom cupboard

very small room. Had to move chair to access the sink. View of Scarborough obscured by v.dirty window. Toilet was in an alcove with a door on it and no extractor fan. Bed runner / scarf stained - didn't stay the 2nd of two nights went home. Check-in took nearly an hour. Bed uncomfortable, would probably have been better on a park bench. Exterior of hotel and foyer / reception grand, rest of the place shabby and in need of urgent renovation. Avoid.
