The beds we're like sleeping on a board. Very uncomfortable sleep. I didn't manage to even get an hour sleep it was very uncomfortable. I will be booking elsewhere next time. Also there was a lot of noise from people partying. Overall the stay was terrible
The rooms we were offered at first were awful but Barbara worked very hard to change rooms we fished up in a room looking out on a flat roof with dead seagull on and all sorts of rubbish couldn’t open windows not that we wanted to very dissatisfied we will not stay at any more
Faded glory, friendly staff bit of a queue at check in and some weird guests in the nicest possible way. But this hotel was perfectly pleasant and totally unique absolutely fascinated us. So nice to stay somewhere that isn’t a generic Premier/Travel Lodge this place has a soul and heartbeat and we will definitely be back.
Grand hotel has improved alot over the years still basic maintenance needs to do the room we stayed in bed side light wasnt working they had been damp coming from cealing at one time but not redecorated can see damp coming down wall and plaster peeling off could do wiih redecorating but room was clean confortable
Balcony door broke n open all night no hot water we went and told them last night noone came cleaners spoke to my wife like rubbish and told us we had to check out at half 9 when should of been 11......but the manager was lovley and really understanding we have never before experienced anything like this with the hotel it is thd best hotel in scarbrough

Liked: Staff & service
Friendly staff greeting. We were upgraded and had an excellent sea view. Hotel is old and showing its age in places but for the money it was excellent value. Great location near to train station and local restaurants and pubs.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We couldn’t close the window in our room due to the handle being missing, but we had been given a sea view room when we’d ordered a standard double. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. Will definitely stay here again in the future
The hotel was clean. The beds were a bit soft, but that's always a personal preference. The hotel is definitely a grand old lady that despite being a bit "tired" is still quite regal. The restaurant on site was convenient and the view of the North Sea was fabulous. It is within walking distance of many sites on the Scarborough waterfront. I would definitely stay here again.
Dated property which requires a lot of care. Staff were really helpful. It was priced appropriately. It would be good if they cleaned after previous person
The millions spent on refurbishing definitely was not on the rooms, mine had several issues. No towel rail in the bathroom, missing handles on drawers, the Yale lock was loose and didn’t lock on inside, the TV had been moved and was positioned above the middle of the dresser and couldn’t fold back against the wall, so you hit your head on in when standing up, the room overall was all a bit sad.
