We've stayed in this hotel many times as a night away from our kids and a huge selling point was being able to use the spa facilities. On arrival we were told this was an extra charge of £10 per person per visit (so using it on arrival and itln th morning would be £40!) This was not stated when booking through Expedia so somebody needs to amke it very clear!

Overall a good stay but red flags that irritate. Firstly they pushed for an upgrade with advance emails. I'm sure the rooms were larger but I'm not convinced better. There was a lack of sockets, the Nespresso machine was plugged into a faulty socket so needed to mive furniture around to get it working. No USB sockets and just one for laptop, personal mobile and work phone so couldnt charge all overnight. Staff knocked on door and promptly entered room rather than waiting, this is rude and an invasion of privacy.

Lovely room nice and spacious. We got a free drink and free pass for the pool too. Staff were professional and nice and looked after us. The drains in our room need a flush out they were a wee bit smelly

We’ve stayed at this hotel before and it’s very good, and in a really convenient spot, however would recommend you avoid the pool and spa. Half the lighting is off over the pool, the chair cushions look like they’ve been found in a skip, and the whole place is in a poor state of repair and very dirty. We were charged an extra £10 each at the pool desk, but we left after 20mins, using hand sanitizer on our feet, it was so bad. I’ve seen that urban explorer guy breaking into abandoned council pools that look more inviting than this.

Enjoyed a free drink at the bar while we waited 5 mins for the room to be ready. Room was not the same as the pictures but still ok. Had a dirty cup and only decaf coffee pods for the machine, used the spa pool and gym facilities the former we had to pay £10pp which I don’t think was advertised. Won’t be paying for a higher tier room if I stay again

Enjoyable stay
It was nice to stay at Mercure St Paul’s Sheffield with my son who has a swimming competition , at the beginning they gave us a room with one double bed despite me reminding them that I needed a twin room and I requested this a week before over the phone, but I think that was a mistake which was sorted quickly, other than that it was a pleasant stay and staff were nice.

i absolutely loved this hotel! huge bathroom and lovely decorated bedroom with a great view! my only downside was that it stayed the pool and spa was included but then had to pay extra to add that on when there !
