Not what we expected at all. Most of the rooms are on one floor, which is quite run down with scuffs and marks all over the walls and floors of the hallway. Once in the room, it’s fine, very basic, but was expecting a fresher hotel and room than what we arrived to. Only stayed one night and was happy to move on to the next hotel.
Great location, especially if you want to stay away from the typical tourist centers. Still very central to the districts west of the Imperial Palace (Shibuya, Shinjuku). It’s a trendy area that is popular with Tokyo-ites. A very convenient and solid coffee bar awaits you in the lobby, as well as a cute little patio bar at the end of the day, The only sort of negative is that the rooms are incredibly bare. Small is to be expected, but almost no amenities or decorations makes it feel very utilitarian. I would say the other benefits definitely outweigh this last point, however. Would stay again.
Would not recommend staying here for the mattress alone. It is as hard as sleeping on the floor and even the pillows are uncomfortable. I was in pain every night of my stay. I regret not reading reviews more thoroughly and relying more on the star rating and less thorough review details.
Not much can make up for an uncomfortable bed imo but for the rest... The staff were very nice and helpful, the public areas were cute, minimal but well maintained and looked like the pictures. Anything after that was a surprise and disappointing.
Once you get to the halls and the rooms, it felt like a different place. The nice looking japandi minimalism doesn’t translate when the lighting is bad, walls are beat up and carpets stained. The rooms are tiny but I expected this. The shower area was uncomfortably snug though and the whole bathroom floor gets wet.
The trains run directly under the hotel and I could feel and hear them on the second floor. Not super loud but noticeable. Fairly quiet otherwise.
Room cleaning and bed change service only applies after every 3 or 4 nights so to get trash or towels changed before then you have to put them in the hall, this meant often walking through a hall lined with dirty towels and trash bins. Not a huge deal just didn’t do much to sweeten the experience.
We miss the Mustard Hotel pyjamas! Lovely staff, delicious coffee. We stayed in three hotels during our trip and this was the best one. It's a little hard to find as the parking is 50 yards from the hotel - more signage would be good, especially a sign at the bottom of the ramp to the hotel. We walked past it initially. The records are a nice touch. And thank you for providing allergy friendly bedding - the other two hotels didn't manage this.
Just a lovely modest hotel with friendly staff. The cafe served excellent coffee and bagels with a delightful bar. Plenty of nice food options nearby and easy to get into the centre of town.
Great vibe in the lobby, very friendly service. The room is bare white, so not very cheerful, but has a great shower and efficient bathroom. Easy to walk to shopping and an outstanding izakaya/bistro called tsumugi just around the corner (not part of the hotel but right near it) that was a highlight of our stay
