Very good

The proprietor and his wife were very friendly and helpful. The property was clean and decently decorated and furnished. The tariff was room only basis but breakfast was offered. Car parking was available but with limited spaces.
The 'room' we were led to by the extremely rude and aggressive 'manager', was not the one we booked. It isn't even shown on the site so how could we have booked it! It was a room in a dark, dank and dirty basement with only half a window with daylight as the other half was blocked by steps leading to the front door! So no privacy. There were two single beds and one double in a strange layout. It looked more like a store room! None of the beds had pillows. We had to provide our own sheets and towels! There was no room for the promised desk because this was shown in the room we had BOOKED.we were asked to leave as the 'manager' considered us 'trouble' because we queried that the room booked was not the one we were offered! He denied he had such a room which I accurately described but it was on your site when I checked later. And he admitted that the basement was the only room he had left when we booked! This is a 'substitute' room decided by him as we were not advised of this change and was not our choice' So, at 4pm on a Friday night we were left trying to find a room for the night in an almost full Torquay. His behaviour was disgraceful, rude and very aggressive. We literally were speechless when he asked us to leave. His attitude when he saw us at the door revealed he did not like us on sight - possibly because he knew we would not accept his dreadul alternative. Finally, despite him saying he hadn't taken payment, our records show he did so BEFORE our arrival!!!!!
All the bedding was damp, my daughter found a glow stick in her bed there was a slug in the shower, it was a dreadful room and definitely not worth the money.
The property had just been taken over and the old owner was still involved he was awful he insulted my girls he was rude and made you feel comfortable definitely will not be staying there again and would not recommend it to anyone.
Room was small but this was expected as seen on line prior to booking. Room was very clean - shower was tiny but water was always hot. Breakfast was cooked superbly and served very hot-nothing was too much trouble.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Served its purpose as a cheap place to stay for the weekend.
Room was small, purely a sleeping space as not enough room to relax or move about etc.
Hotellier was really nice, very friendly and engaging and a great host.
Great value for money hotel, courteous host, excellent breakfast. Shower and bathroom slightly small, comfortable bed. Definitely look to book again in the future when next in Torquay.

Short stay
Perfectly adequate for a short trip to visit family. Parking is hit and miss at the rear of the property for a start.
We had a room where the shower was a standard mixer that was very hard to get the right temperature in.
Its an old building and allowances have to be made for this.
Breakfast was great
Overall, you get what you pay for

property was a little too far from the harbour and shops.
Great service. Host is always ready with a smile, good food and local advice before you set out on your day.
Location is perfect. Rooms are on the small side, as you would expect for a triple booking in a quaint b and b, but clean and equipped with a welcome fan and fridge.
We would gladly return and wish the team here a great summer.

Spot on
Booked here for a weekend and was a great little find. Owner was a very friendly helpful guy (never caught his name, oops) even helped us out with an extra room at short notice. Rooms were very clean and those beds were the comfiest ive ever slept in. Nice pub across the road with good food and beer and only a short walk into the centre. Would highly recomend.
I stayed at this hotel with my 2 nieces on a special night out. We were given a warm friendly welcome on arrival from the owner. The room was comfortable, presentable with good facilities although very small. we enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast served by the owner who once again was very chatty with ourselves and other guests.
I would recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a good base at a reasonable price in a very convenient location.
We enjoyed our stay here.
Very clean and well organised.
Breakfast was the best I have had, top quality food cooked perfectly.
Plenty of cold choices too.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Trouville. Friendly host with lots of friendly banter and chat. The breakfast was brilliant, and served very quickly. The only downside was that the room was quite small, as was the bathroom, but, as we had read the reviews and descriptions, we expected this and it was not a problem for us. The location is perfect as a base, with the beach, harbour and town within walking distance. On site parking is a bonus , as is the free wifi and fridge in the room. A friendly family run b&b with helpful, down to earth hosts.

comfortable stay value for money, small double wich we knew when booking allright for the one night we needed to stay, lovely Breakfast
This is a very good small hotel, well placed in the centre of Torquay, with a friendly and welcoming owner. The breakfasts, served in a comfortable dining room, are both generous and well cooked. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped - as well as the usual tea/coffee facilities there is a small refrigerator which is a nice touch. Would definitely recommend The Trouville.
