Small room, but cozy with nice amenities and a great price. Free coffee, tea, and hot water is great! Sleeping on a mat on a tatami mat is okay for us, but maybe not everyone.
It is just OK to stay for a night. There is no water boiler in room so it is not convenient to have a cup of tea and relax. You must go a common area near the lobby to get a warm drink.
The hotel was pleasant and well situated in the city.
The Japanese style room we had was very small but cosy. It was a little cold in the night and our TV was programmed to turn in at 5:30am in the mornings which was startling to say the least. I realised after I had left that my phone cable, which I left out in the room, seemed to be different to the one I came with although it still works.
The stay was fine and staff were friendly.
The hotel is a short walk from the station and it was very easy to get to. The staff were polite and very helpful. I stayed in the twin bedroom which was clean and spacious.
The place was okay, however the bathroom/toilet was VERY small. The sink turns in order for the bathroom to be a toilet or shower, therefore you cannot use both at the same time.
Our room was next to the staff room so even at night we could hear them talking... so the rooma aren't very sound-proof.
Otherwise it's okay for a short stay.
My second stay. The staff is friendlyand though the room is small, it was cozy and comfortable. Location wise, it is a 5 min walk to Ikebukuro station (C6 or C1 exits). There are a few 7-11 stores and a great yakiniku restaurant just a few doors away, where we had supper for 2 nights .
The hotel is convenient at 10 mins walk to JR Ikebukuro train station. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Good wifi. The room is small but sufficient for 2 people. I enjoyed the experience of sleeping Japanese style. There are many restaurants nearby and a Lawson 100 convenience store. I would stay here again.
Great location. Quiet area. Great location. Quiet area. Great location. Quiet area. Great location. Quiet area. Great location. Quiet area. Great location. Quiet area.
Changtee hotel is an old and out-dated hotel, the lobby area looks remodeled but the rest of the hotel is quite beat-up. The room appears to be clean, but the bathroom had a moldy smell, we had to keep the window opened and the air condition on all night to minimize the terrible scent. The hotel is also a bit of a walk from the train station, given that it was 7th day of our 8-day trip, we weren't thrilled of having to carry our luggage for an extra inch to get back to the hotel from the train station vice versa.
We had a very bad experience for our 1 night stay with 2 rooms at the end of the ground floor. There's bad smell from drainage but nothing can be done to fix it. As per hotel staff, they are full house, however they can't arrange any air purifier or any solution. In a small room, we have difficulty to sleep with such bad smell with kids. The final suggestion from hotel staff is open the window a bit, while it's around 5 degree outside and the window is facing their machinery corner.
Another thing is how their toilet and shower corner being equipped. No matter how small is bathroom in Japan cities, that's the most squeezed one, can hardly sit down to utilize it.
